Rules and Regulations:

1. Exhibits must be the work of the exhibitor.

2. Exhibitors can enter one article only in each category. For example, only one dress or only one jogging suit, but both items may be entered in their own category.

3. Exhibitors are not permitted to show the same article more than two years. Preference will be given to new work.

4. Soiled, defaced or old work will be disqualified.

5. Exhibitors must be a member of the Cumberland Township Agricultural Society (you must give your membership number when entering except in the Youth Section

6. List of entries to be phoned in to the Rita Dessaint (613-835-2608) or email: denrob125@rogers.com

7. All entry lists should be in no later than Friday, August 5th, 2011.

8. Please indicate if you are senior, new exhibitor or youth as there are special prizes for top entries in these categories.

9. Exhibits must be brought to the blue Exhibit Building on Wednesday, August 10th, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

10. Judging will take place on Thursday, August 11th, 2011. The Exhibit building will be closed until approximately 5 pm or until judging is finished and the display is assembled.

11. In case of no competition, the judge will only give a prize if work is worthy.

12. In case of a tie, the overall winner will be determined by the exhibitor with the greatest number of first prizes.

13. Exhibits must not be removed until 4:30 pm 6 pm, Sunday, August 14th, 2011. Homecraft Division will be closed at 4 p.m. on Sunday 14th August 2011, for disassembly of the displays. (This usually takes about half an hour approximately.)

NO PICK-UPS WILL BE ALLOWED UNTIL AFTER THIS DISASSEMBLY FOR SAFETY REASONS.

The Agricultural Society is not responsible for exhibits not claimed after 6 pm.

Prize money may be picked up at the Fair office any time after noon on Friday or throughout the weekend. Prizes not claimed before the end of September 2011 will be considered to be a donation to the CTAS.

Photography Prizes (adult and teen): 1st -$4 2nd -$3 3rd -$2

Children 11 and under are: 1st -$3 2nd -$2.50 3rd -$2 4th -1.50 5th -$1

Afghan and quilt prize amounts will be printed beside the item if different from this list.

JUDGING: Articles will be judged using the scoring system according to the booklet Homecraft Judging Standards for Ontario Fairs unless otherwise stated. These standards are important if you want to know what the judge is looking for. Call the Fair Office at 835-2766 for a copy of these judging standards.

Grand Champion Hand Quilted Quilt Competition of Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies

Entries must be solely made and hand quilted by the exhibitor

Entry quilts must be a minimum of 324 measured on the perimeter (smaller quilts will not be

eligible to proceed to the next level of competition) Prizes: $25, $15 & $10

First prize quilt at the District will go to the February Convention for judging. 1st prize $500

Machine Championship Quilt/Wall hanging Competition

Quilt/Wall hanging must be solely made and machine quilted by the exhibitor and judged at a local OAAS fair to be eligible for this competition

Minimum 192 inches or 480 cm- measured on the perimeter- can be square or rectangular etc.

Grand Champion quilt/wall hanging will go to district judging- ribbon plus $25, $15 & $10 to be awarded

Winner of district advances to annual OAAS Convention

ORGANIZED GROUP CLASSES

Rules and Regulations:

a. All general rules for other categories apply.

b. Must belong to an organized group (e.g. Church, crafts association, political group, Institute group etc)

c. All work must be the work of the members of the group.

d. Choose six (6) items – no more, no less.

e. All entries are to be attractively displayed.

f. An identification card is to accompany the display. Card must be discretely hidden and will be displayed after judging.

g. List of entries and entry fee ($5.00) is to be forwarded to the Homecraft Secretary or to the Fair Office no later than Friday, July 31st, 2011.

h. Exhibit must be set up between 6:00 and 8:00 pm on Friday, August 5th, 2011.

i. Each group is responsible for setting up their own display. Additional props may be used.

j. Each group will be assigned a space. The display area is approximately 4’ wide x 2½deep.

2011 Theme: Welcome Spring

G1. Quilt-pieced or appliquéd, pattern named, min. of 72″x 90″, hand quilted, SMA. Not necessarily part of the theme.

P8. Creative challenge: Light painting is a specific version of long exposure photography.

You’ll want to set your camera on a tripod and expose shots for 10-30 seconds or more while (probably another subject) draws with a light source, like a flashlight, LED, candle, sparkler or glowstick.

OAAS FAIR PHOTO & SLIDE CONTEST – Digital Imaging now accepted

The OAAS holds this competition annually in an effort to acquire photographs and slides for their archives. Complete details of the 2011 competition will be available at the Fair Board office at the time of the 2011 Navan Fair. Deadline: December 1st, 2011. All photos for this competition must be of the 2011 Navan Fair. So bring your camera to this years fair and start snappin. You might have a winning shot!

These 3 classes will have the 1st Prize compete at the District I meeting and then the 1st Prize will compete at the provincial level at the February 2012 Convention.
