The demolition derby has always been one of the favorite events at the Navan Fair, and this year promises to be no different. To participate in this event you need to be just a little bit crazy, perhaps even have a screw loose. Lets face it, you are facing off against a bunch of guys that want to ram you into next week.
I was curious as to what made demolition derby drivers tick so I sought out rookie competitor Justin “The Mad Man” Birch for his thoughts on this years derby. Justin struck me as a nice lad, but I’m quite sure that the elevator doesn’t go all the way to the top floor. You see, Justin has decided to paint his car in honor of his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. He may as well have painted a target on his back. Justin has made it very clear that he isn’t a fan of Ottawa Senator supporters either, referring to them as “cocky.” Justin is a brave soul indeed.

Needless to say I think that whatever happens it is going to be a great show. Come see Justin “The Mad Man” Birch on Thursday August 12th at 7:00pm. Right afterward, there will be a mechanical bull riding contest under the domes with live entertainment!
